Yes, I love me some Christmas music and the movies, but we've been watching the Grinch since probably Halloween...both the cartoon version and the one made a few years ago that has actual actors. If you're like me, you probably know the words to the song and that his heart was two sizes to small.
In addition to the cartoon and book, did you know Dr. Seuss has an entire webpage dedicated to helping you and your kiddos grow your heart 3 sizes this Christmas season? I didn't, and wanted to share it because it really is so darn cute! You can find the page here.
Grinch-mas encourages readers of all ages to celebrate family reading, giving from your heart, and community spirit. It kicks off on December 1 (which, BTW, is National Grinch Day) and each day there's a different daily good deed - today was making your bed before school. My heart grew 4 sizes because nobody made beds but me today :-)
While our holiday season can be taken over by commercials and stores with toys galore, this is a great way to help families think about the real meaning and to, if even for a few minutes, forget about the hustle and bustle of gift buying. I think the Grinch said it best:
"Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
